Update on Routine Appointments
Last year the government mandated that we open up online consultations to all patients throughout the day. This has almost doubled the requests sent to our doctors.
Many of these requests are for minor issues which wouldn’t previously have been asked of the GP.
We are trying to screen these more minor issues out, but sometimes we need to see people face to face to ensure our decisions are safe. This means we have more people being booked into routine face to face appointments without any extra capacity.
The wait for an appointment will inevitably lengthen so long as demand for appointments outstrips supply. We apologise and want to reassure you we are doing our best.
Please write to your MP if you have concerns, we have already spoken to our local MP regarding our frustrations with the way government is managing general practice.
