Asthma, Diabeties and Other Disease Management
Our practice nurses hold regular asthma and diabetes clinics. We offer all our diabetic and asthmatic patients at least one annual assessment with the practice nurse or doctor.
The practice nurses also offer regular blood tests and assessments for patients with a number of other long-term conditions such as heart disease or epilepsy or who are taking certain medications.
The Practice Nursing Team are able to assist in the diagnosis of asthma and are also able to advise on how to manage this with lifestyle choices and use of inhalers best suited to the individual. We like to review everybody at least once a year, however if there is a change in your symptoms before your next review, we are very happy to see you sooner. We like to review everybody at least once a year, when we perform spirometry (a detailed measurement of your lung function). On the day of this review we would prefer, if possible for you NOT to have used your inhalers, as this will enable us to get a more accurate reading. If there is a change in your symptoms before your next review, we are very happy to see you sooner. For more information on COPD, please visit the British Lung Foundation website www.lunguk.org
